The East Baton Rouge Parish School System offers outstanding magnet programs in seven elementary schools, five middle schools and four high schools throughout the parish. Many of our magnet schools have been recognized for earning Blue Ribbon status and for being awarded numerous Magnet Schools of America Merit awards.

East Baton Rouge Parish's Magnet Schools offer a wide variety of different programs in addition to their accelerated academic reputation. At the elementary level visual and performing arts, Montessori, and Foreign Language Immersion programs are offered.

Our middle school programs include visual and performing arts, pre-engineering and a Foreign Language Immersion track. At the high school level, various special programs such as medical, visual and performing arts as well as Centers of Excellence programs focus on health sciences, business and governmental affairs, as well as engineering.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board approved policy allows students enrolled in a dedicated magnet school to progress to the next magnet school level if they apply and qualify. Therefore, students who attend elementary magnet schools will receive priority admission into Brookstown Middle, Capitol Middle, McKinley Middle, Scotlandville Middle, Sherwood Middle, Southeast Middle and Westdale Middle Immersion's Program at the middle school level.

Students enrolled in a middle magnet school program (except Capitol and Southeast Middle) will receive priority admission into Baton Rouge Magnet High School, if they apply and meet academic eligibility requirements during the first magnet application period.  Magnet students matriculating to high school from Capitol and Southeast Middle will receive priority admission for Lee High School, if they apply and qualify.
