Capitol Middle Magnet's program is designed to offer interactive and collaborative courses in marketing   and animation by using science, technology, engineering and math ( STEM) skills to promote critical thinking and to enhance problem solving literacy in a project-oriented setting. The goals of the program are to help the students develop flexible knowledge, effective problem solving skills, self-directed learning, effective collaboration skills and intrinsic motivation.

Although the multimedia magnet theme will concentrate on a variety of technology for teaching purposes, instruction will be much more student-centered, inquiry-based, project-oriented and investigative. Students will be required to complete extended learning and challenge-based projects as methods to foster collaboration and inquiry and investigative research, as well as creativity using a variety of media for presentations to develop standards-based multimedia digital portfolios and marketable presentations.

Game design and animation projects will focus on designing and creating characters and objects that can be used to teach students mathematics and science as an applied science. Students will apply skills and concepts learned to real world projects, service learning, and community internships that require problem solving, critical thinking and active engagement in classroom activities around the concepts and standards they are learning.

Students will learn about the principles of marketing including defining, designing and creating a model to promote their projects. The web-design course will teach students the foundation and fundamental concepts of web-design by creating a website using coding, but also the techniques of designing and creating stunning websites using industry-based programs.

Students will be able to earn high school credit in computer science, a foreign language, and Algebra I.
